Desiree van Lunteren is a player for AZ Alkmaar and a former Dutch international. She took her first steps in professional football at AZ Alkmaar. After AZ Alkmaar and a year at Telstar, she moved to Ajax, where she was a key player for six seasons. In 2012, Desiree made her debut for the Dutch national team in a friendly match against France. After winning the European Championship with the Oranjeleeuwinnen and having a good season with the Amsterdammers, she transferred to the German club SC Freiburg. In the summer of 2019, Desiree finished second at the Women's World Cup in France and returned to her familiar club AFC Ajax. By now, Desiree has retired from the Dutch national team after 84 caps. In the summer of 2021, Desiree made the switch to PSV Vrouwen. In 2023, she reversed her decision to end her professional career and is playing her matches for AZ Alkmaar.
